The process for surgery is as follows:
Book your consultation or virtual consultation (patients from out of town are able to get a virtual consultation by sending pictures of the area of their concern through email and making comments of what they want as well as their expectations).
Dr. Manuel Gutierrez will analyze the photos and give you a personal consultation over the phone to identify your goals and understand your needs. He will then give you suggestions of procedures that will best accommodate your situation. He will guide you with preoperative instructions, as well as alerting you to any preoperative studies that must be done in order to have a safe procedure and a successful result.
Once you feel comfortable with the doctor’s suggestions and have had all of your questions thoroughly answered, you will be transferred to one of our patient facilitators who will give you a final quote. You will then be able to select a convenient date for your procedure so that you can go ahead and make your travel arrangements.
Once you book your travel, please call our office with the details of your flight. We will pass this information along to our driver who will pick you up from the San Diego airport (only a 20 minute drive from our facility).
If your flight is early in the day, you will go directly to the clinic for blood work and a formal consultation during which Dr. Gutierrez will address all of your questions and concerns.
You will then be taken by our nurses who will begin the preoperative preparations.
Once you are ready, you will meet the anesthesiologist and he will explain what will happen next in the procedure.
Once the procedure is complete, you will be transferred to a recovery room where you will stay to be monitored. Later on, you will be transferred to a comfortable room where you will have a light meal that evening and a dedicated nurse that provides you with around-the-clock care.
The next day, Dr. Gutierrez will check on your recovery. If he is comfortable with your progress, you will be discharged from the clinic with post-operative instructions, prescriptions for medications, compression garments and a special bra if needed. The staff will book your next appointment for follow-up. If you are not able to make that appointment, it is advisable to notify your primary care physician to ensure that he/she is wiling to remove drainage or stitches as Dr. Manuel Gutierrez Romero suggests.
Most of our patients decide to spend a couple of days in the hotel across the street from our facility so that they can be closely monitored during their early recovery. If this is the case, our driver will take you to and from the hotel for any scheduled follow-up visits.
